Is it possible in your matchmaking efforts to have a successful mature dating relationship with someone who is in active duty in the armed forces? It is possible, but it will take hard work and discipline and you will need to step up your matchmaking efforts a notch or two in order to find that success. Dating someone who is in the armed forces obviously constitutes a long distance relationship; however, there are more factors involved that can complicate the relationship and create a more difficult situation. But if you work well together and utilize your matchmaking skills, you can succeed. One of the complications of dating someone in the armed forces is that especially during a time of war, your significant other can likely be sent overseas into the battlefield and you can be separated from each other for a long period of time. In a long-distance relationship, obviously you are separated from each other for a long time period; however, when you add the aspect of danger and life threatening situations to the mix, you have increased tension and danger to your mature dating relationship. You will need to learn some key matchmaking skills to guarantee your success.
One of the key matchmaking skills to ensuring your success is to develop a strong trust between you both. You need to be able to trust your significant other and he or she needs to trust you, while you are at home and he or she is stationed abroad. Most likely, your partner will not be thinking about cheating or neglecting your mature dating relationship because he or she will be so focused on the tasks at hand in his or her assignments in the armed forces. You need to do whatever is necessary to assuage your partner’s doubts about your faithfulness to him or her. Not only do you need to utilize that matchmaking skill, but you also need to actually remain faithful in your mature dating relationship to your partner. Those who serve in the armed forces are great men and women and deserve to have respect and honor. If in your matchmaking efforts you chose to date someone who is in the armed forces, then you are embarking on a great opportunity to find a love with someone who is a very inspiring individual.
In your matchmaking efforts you need to make the most of all of your opportunities to communicate and they can be few and far between. My brother was in the army and when he was stationed in Iraq, he did have access to email; however, it was not as often as he would have liked, but they are abroad to do a job and they get that job done. When you do communicate make sure that in your matchmaking efforts, you realize that every second of your communication counts far greater then in a relationship with someone who is not in the armed forces. Dispense with the small talk and get to the deeper conversations and use your matchmaking skills to do your best to further your emotional bond as much as is possible in the middle of such circumstances.
As you continue your matchmaking efforts, make certain that you continue to encourage your partner; especially as in his or her present circumstances, he or she will need a great deal of encouragement. If you can handle the problems that are going on in your own life, then don’t always unload all of your problems onto your partner. Of course, in your matchmaking efforts, you do want to be open and honest and have a genuine exchange of your thoughts and feelings on the things going on in your lives, but remember that your time to communicate right now is precious and you need to make every second of that communication count.
